Bleak winter days remind us that sunny days are not far away.

It might be a good time to consider all the foodstuff available from area farms, and Bucks County and the Penn State agricultural extension produces an annual Fresh From Bucks County guide. It even includes a local growing guide.

The current guide, due for an update soon, available online, lists 65 farms, orchards and vineyards where you can find really fresh, really great food and drink (sold by real, genuine Bucks County residents!).

Page 30 of the guide also lists community sustainable agriculture (CSA) farms that grow vegetables available to the public through the growing season. Usually you have to "subscribe" to be among those who get regular baskets of goods. And usually now is the time CSAs offer early-bird discounts to subscribers.

Check out the list, and then check out the CSAs. Eight are listed. It's a great way to keep healthy and keep Bucks County growers healthy too. Check it out and tell your friends about it. I have a feeling a lot of people don't know this handy guide exists. http://extension.psu.edu/…/fresh-from-bucks-county-farms-fa…
